Gerald Eby joining “Citizens for Carlisle Schools” as 5th candidate for School Board

(Carlisle, PA). With five seats open in the Carlisle Area School District Board race in the May 16 Municipal Primary, Gerald (Jerry) Eby is joining the Citizens for Carlisle Schools slate of nonpartisan candidates—Paula Bussard, Bruce Clash, Joe Shane, and Jon Tarrant.

Our community deserves a school board governed by truth and experience, not politics and chaos,” stated Eby.

Eby is a graduate of Carlisle High School and a long-time supporter of the school district. As an engineer, Eby has championed technology in the classroom, led initiatives to achieve greater energy efficiencies in the district’s buildings, and helped secure the grants that enabled the district to install its solar fields.

Thanks to Eby’s leadership, Carlisle is one of only a few school districts statewide to have a fully integrated career and technology education (CTE) program. This has enabled Carlisle students to graduate with the skills and experience needed to succeed in the workplace. Eby is active on the CTE advisory council that includes area businesses and organizations who advise the CTE program on needed knowledge and skills for individuals to have productive careers.

Eby also has a reputation of being a responsible watchdog of the district’s finances and an advocate for long-term facility and financial planning. This has helped Carlisle to have the resources to attract and retain high-quality teachers and being able to offer education in safe and up-to-date buildings.

Eby believes in life-long learning and is a member of the Employment Skills Center Board. He has actively participated in their Buck-a-Book program that encourages elementary student reading and writing in support of adult literacy.

Eby, a life-long Republican, will appear on both the May 16th Republican and Democratic Party ballots as a demonstration of his nonpartisan commitment to the students and families living in the Carlisle Area School District.

Eby joins Bussard, Clash, Shane, and Tarrant in pledging to keep the focus on issues that positively affect classroom and school environments by putting students first, respecting parents and teachers, and uniting the community to provide the best education to children living in the greater Carlisle area.
