School boards should be nonpartisan. “Citizens for Carlisle Schools” is the only nonpartisan team for CASD. Paula Bussard, Bruce Clash, Joe Shane, George Stroud and Jon Tarrant can unite us. They bring decades of combined education and community experience.
Bussard, Clash, Shane, Stroud and Tarrant have a comprehensive plan for their tenure on the school board. It is to:
Prioritize academic achievement and career success;
Address student mental health needs;
Retain excellent teachers and programs;
Encourage parental involvement; and
Ensure transparency and fiscal accountability.
You can read the details at citizensforcarlisleschools.org.
They have pertinent local, state and national experience to accomplish these goals:
Paula Bussard volunteers in a second grade classroom at LeTort Elementary School. She also serves as a court-appointed special advocate in the foster care system. Bruce Clash established the Pennsylvania office of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, a statewide organization that partners with hundreds of Pennsylvania police chiefs, sheriffs and district attorneys to advocate for early childhood education. Joe Shane taught high school for eight years and now teaches chemistry and trains science teachers at Shippensburg University. George Stroud has spent his entire professional career in higher education and serves as vice president for Student Life and Dean of Students at Dickinson College. Jon Tarrant has had a career as an English teacher and has worked as an educational consultant visiting more than 400 colleges and universities across the country as he helped students find postsecondary education opportunities.
The value of their experience is impressive. We should value their experience and their dedication.
Vote for Bussard, Clash, Shane, Stroud and Tarrant on Nov. 7.
