"Vote for Citizens for Carlisle Schools, Bussard, Clash, Shane, Stroud and Tarrant, to ensure a bright future for the children of Carlisle. They have the skills and the desire to get the job done."

I attended the CASD Board of Directors Candidate Forum on Oct. 23, and I am very glad that I made that choice. Listening to the candidates answer questions and observing the body language of the candidates while presenting and while listening to the other speakers was quite informative. One group, the Citizens for Carlisle Schools (Bussard, Clash, Shane, Stroud and Tarrant), presented a positive vision for the future of Carlisle’s schools that will ensure quality education opportunities and strategies to meet the needs of students, parents, teachers and staff now and into the future. I volunteered with the group that met over the last summer to investigate the K-8 re-visioning. It was a thorough and in-depth process involving about 100 people, representing a cross section of Carlisle. The recommendations to the board of directors were given much thought from all angles. It was disheartening to hear that work being denigrated by a member of the Carlisle Team for Change.

The Team for Change seemed only to have negativity about the schools in common, and their scowls, angry body language and unnecessarily raised voices reflected a group carrying axes to grind. I did not come away feeling like that group had any good understanding of our schools or the needs of Carlisle’s children. Nor could I imagine any of them being able to work across the aisle in a nonpartisan fashion to make decisions for the common good. They all seemed to have their own agendas lurking below the surface.

Vote for Citizens for Carlisle Schools, Bussard, Clash, Shane, Stroud and Tarrant, to ensure a bright future for the children of Carlisle. They have the skills and the desire to get the job done.
