I am a Republican currently serving on the Carlisle School Board and will be casting my votes for members of Citizens for Carlisle Schools.
It is critical we elect the best candidates for the job of governing our school district. School board members should act in a non-partisan manner and understand effective governance.
I am a Republican currently serving on the Carlisle School Board and will be casting my votes for members of Citizens for Carlisle Schools. Yes, they are Democrats, and yes, I am setting aside partisanship to elect the candidates who will most effectively serve our schools. This is an exceptionally qualified group of individuals who will act with professionalism, dedication and expertise.
As board president, Paula Bussard’s leadership and depth of knowledge regarding procedure and school law is unparalleled, and she has steered the board through challenging situations with true grace and professionalism.
As Finance Committee chair, Bruce Clash spends endless hours deep-diving into the budget and finances, promoting transparency and ensuring the district makes the best use of every taxpayer dime.
Jon Tarrant provides the unique perspective of a retired high school teacher and a Certified Educational Planner, providing invaluable insight into teacher and student needs.
New member George Stroud not only has an impressive resume including multiple leadership roles, he is also a community volunteer, coach, mentor and parent.
While not yet a board member, Joe Shane is a tremendous asset as a Shippensburg professor and leader in his church, and the dedication he has demonstrated in listening to voters certainly speaks to the commitment he will bring to the board.
These individuals understand effective governance, accountability and transparency. They respect our teachers and value the worth and potential of every one of our students. They know what a highly functioning, non-partisan school board looks like. Most importantly, they have no other agenda except to provide the best education possible to every one of our over 5,000 students.
